Associate Professor Ross Neville

About Me
Ross began his academic career in Ireland, completing a BA (2006), BSc (Hons) (2007) and finally a PhD (2013) in Leisure Management at the Dublin Institute of Technology (now Technological University Dublin). Ross moved to the UK in 2013 to take up a postdoctoral fellowship within the School of Sport, Exercise and Rehabilitation Sciences, University of Birmingham (UoB). At UoB, Ross primarily contributed to the BSc Sport, Physical Education and Coaching Science. He also worked in a research capacity alongside the Youth Sport Trust and English Federation of Disability Sport on the Sainsbury's-funded national-level project, 'Active Kids for All Inclusive PE Training Programme'. In November 2016, Ross moved back to Ireland to take up employment at the School of Public Health, Physiotherapy and Sports Science at University College Dublin.
In the subject area of Sport Management, Ross held the role of Programme Director on the BSc Sport and Exercise Management from November 2016 until June 2022 and continues to provide teaching, module coordination, and research supervision in the area of sport sociology and development, student placement, professional skills, dissertation, and research methods. In the context of research, at UCD Ross has since led national-level surveys of inclusive attitudes among physical education teachers here in Ireland and has extended his research remit to include collaborations with clinical practitioners, including Temple Street Children's Hospital.
Ross is currently the principal investigator on a number of funded projects related to physical activity and physical education for young children with physical disabilities.
